Frequently Asked Questions About SSC IB ACIO Exams

Indian citizens with a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university, aged 18–27 years (relaxations apply for SC/ST/OBC and ex-servicemen), are eligible for the IB ACIO Grade II exam.

IB ACIO is considered slightly tougher than SSC CGL — Stage 1 difficulty is comparable, but IB ACIO adds a Stage 2 descriptive paper (essay + precis) and a personal interview round, making it more demanding overall.

IB ACIO Grade II salary falls under Pay Level 7 (7th Pay Commission), with a pay scale of ₹44,900–₹1,42,400. The in-hand salary ranges from ₹80,375 to ₹90,257 per month, including Special Security Allowance (20% of basic pay), DA, HRA, and TA.

IB ACIO has 3 Stages: Stage 1 (CBT – 100 Questions, 100 Marks, 60 Minutes), Stage 2 (Descriptive Paper – Essay + Precis/Comprehension, 50 Questions, 50 Marks, 60 Minutes), and Stage 3 (Personal Interview – 100 Marks).

Stage 1 covers General Awareness (20 Q), Quantitative Aptitude (20 Q), Logical/Analytical Ability (20 Q), English Language (20 Q), and General Studies (20 Q) — 100 questions in total.

Yes, 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer in the Stage 1 computer-based test.

IB ACIO officers work in India's internal intelligence agency under the Ministry of Home Affairs, handling intelligence gathering, surveillance, field operations, report writing, and coordination with law enforcement agencies.

There is no official limit on the number of attempts for IB ACIO — candidates can apply as long as they meet the age eligibility criteria within the permissible relaxation limits.

IB ACIO Grade II is the entry-level executive role in the Intelligence Bureau, with a promotion path leading up to the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (DIB). Promotions are based on experience, performance, and departmental exams.
